FUTSAL24 IS AN ELITE FUTSAL COACHING SERVICE FOR UNDER 8 TO UNDER 15 YEAR OLDS FOUNDED BY THE READING FC PLAYER SONE ALUKO.
What do Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Fabregas and many of the world’s most elite players have in common? They all played futsal early on in their football development.
The rules of the game are similar to traditional 5 a side football but played to touchlines instead of sideboards. Teams have only 4 seconds to kick rather than throw the ball back into play, ensuring a high tempo game is maintained. Players are also free to enter the goalkeeper’s area. Futsal is played with a smaller ball (size 3 or 4) that has a reduced bounce which encourages greater ball control. This fast paced, small-sided game greatly improves a player’s technical ability, decision making and tactical awareness as players have up to five times the amount of touches in futsal compared to an 11 a side game.
Futsal24 was founded by professional footballer Sone Aluko, who currently plays for Reading FC. In 2016, after the closure of the local futsal classes attended by his younger brother due to financial circumstances, Aluko decided to take on the challenge of plugging the gap himself with his own brand of futsal sessions for young players. In the summer of 2017 with the help of UEFA qualified Coach and fully qualified P.E Teacher Mick Lewin, Futsal24 was formed.
From hosting his annual U16’s competition in Lagos, Nigeria to sponsoring and visiting his former Sunday league club in Birmingham, Sone Aluko is a long time supporter of grassroots football at the youth level. Founding Futsal24 is his latest exciting venture in one of his main fields of passion – youth player development. Futsal24 will launch from two locations before more venues are added across Berkshire and Surrey.
“Personally I think futsal is the best way for young players to improve their technique and game understanding. Its emphasis on skill, technique and quick thinking over the more physical attributes of football make it a great avenue for any young player to improve. It’s a platform I wish was available to me when I was younger, so the opportunity to provide it to the next generation of players after me was a huge reason for creating Futsal24.” – Sone Aluko
